Itinerary
📅 Day 1: Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
Your journey begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Upon arrival, you start a gentle trek along the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding.
This is an easy introductory walk to help you acclimatize and prepare for the days ahead.
📅 Day 2: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Today’s trail follows riverside paths and crosses several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. A steep ascent brings you to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa hub of the Khumbu region.
📅 Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Namche
To adapt to the altitude, you will spend a rest day in Namche. A short hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung village offers your first clear views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks.
You will follow the principle: “climb high, sleep low.”
📅 Day 4: Trek to Dole
Leaving Namche, the trail diverts toward the quieter Gokyo Valley. You trek through beautiful rhododendron forests and gradually ascend to Dole.
The landscape begins transitioning into alpine terrain.
📅 Day 5: Trek to Machhermo
The trail continues steadily uphill through an open valley with stunning mountain views. Machhermo is known for historical Yeti sightings and offers a peaceful overnight stay.
📅 Day 6: Trek to Gokyo
This is one of the most scenic days of the trek. You pass by glacial moraines and witness the first of the stunning turquoise Gokyo Lakes. Eventually, you reach Gokyo village, located beside the third lake.
📅 Day 7: Hike to Gokyo Ri & Exploration
An early morning hike to Gokyo Ri rewards you with one of the best panoramic views in the Himalayas. You can see Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and other towering peaks.
After the hike, you return to Gokyo for rest and exploration.
📅 Day 8: Exploration / Buffer Day
This day is reserved for rest, acclimatization, or exploration of the nearby 4th and 5th lakes and the Ngozumpa Glacier.
It also serves as a contingency day in case of bad weather.
📅 Day 9: Trek back to Dole
You begin your descent, retracing your steps back to Dole. The downhill walk is easier but still requires attention.
📅 Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Continue descending through alpine terrain and forests until you reach Namche Bazaar again. The familiar surroundings make for a comfortable stay.
📅 Day 11: Trek to Phakding
Descend further along the Dudh Koshi River valley, enjoying the final views of the Himalayas.
📅 Day 12: Trek to Lukla
This is your final trekking day. You return to Lukla and celebrate the successful completion of your trek.
📅 Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu
Take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Flights are weather-dependent, so flexibility is important.
📅 Day 14: Leisure / Buffer Day
A free day in Kathmandu reserved for rest, sightseeing, or as a backup in case of flight delays.
